- Teen Intensive Workshop

Maria Liatis (acting) and Josh Harris (writing)

Are your teens ready to take their comedy to the next level?

Join us for our Teen Intensive Sketch Comedy workshop at the Village Theatre with Maria Liatis, lead instructor and Josh Harris, writing instructor!

Within this one week intensive program, we will be working on:

     • Collaborative, individual and small group sketch writing
     • More involved improv exercises
     • Create and dive deeper into character development
     • Explore new types of comedy
     • Learn first hand how to write for sketch comedy videos,
........storyboarding, and creating shot lists
     • Rehearsing, blocking and staging a live performance

We will work and support each other as a group as we grow and build upon and enhance their comedic chops!

The end result of their hard work will be a Sketch Showcase on Friday and Sunday. Students will help come up with a show title/theme and then we create special artwork to promote their show.

The entire live performance will be filmed and edited for a DVD!

About Maria

Maria Liatis is happy to be joining the education team at Sketchworks.  She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in Theater in 2006. While in college and since graduation, Maria works as an actress appearing in commercials, industrials, and films under the representation of People Store Agency.

In 2009, she completed her apprenticeship at the New American Shakespeare Tavern, where she also helped with the youth education department. For 7 years, she coached aspiring actors from ages 4 to adult at The Actor's Scene.

After completing the acting classes at Sketchworks, Maria appeared in her first mainstage show in 2014. She loves being a part of a theater family again. Especially one full of such hilarious and devoted members… that will let you act a fool!

About Josh

Exploding onto the comedy scene, young Atlanta comedian Josh Harris has experienced an impressive rise over the last few years. Hailed by Creative Loafing Magazine for “combining frat boy silliness with a trap star mentality,” his high energy performances and one of a kind material made him a semi-finalist on Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes.

In 2009 NBC flew him to LA to compete in the finals of the nationwide talent search Stand Up for Diversity, which showcased the country’s ten freshest comedians at The Comedy Store. Most recently he performed a nationally televised comedy set for Bounce TV’s “Off The Chain” hosted by Rodney Perry from “The Monique Show.”
