With Bill Szabrak
Get serious about being funny, and sign up for Sketchworks’ Intro to Sketch Comedy Writing class!
For the first time, this will be a virtual course utilizing screen shares, webcams, and group video!
You’ll learn about different genres of sketch comedy, analyze comedy scripts and sketches based on the techniques learned, and acquire strategies to expand on ideas and turn them into scripts.
Each week you will:
• Collaborate with other writers in a workshop environment
• Write, read and discuss material to stoke your imagination
• Work with an experienced sketch comedy writer
• Realize your full writing potential
From new writers, unsure how to go about turning their thousand ideas into comedy, to practiced writers who just wants to grow or improve their craft, this class provides the opportunity to turn out funny, completed sketches.
Some students may even have the chance to write for Sketchworks’ stage productions and videos!
Payment confirms your space.
As Sketchworks’ head writer, Bill brings many years of experience writing sketches for stage and video. In addition to sketch writing, Bill has performed stand-up and improv, acted in Sketchworks’ main stage productions, and led Sketchworks’ foray into news headlines style of joke writing.
Bill provides a nurturing environment that allows students of all experience levels the chance to get their ideas on paper (virtual or actual), while delivering the foundation necessary to see to the fruition of these realities. Silly, silly realities.
