Master Sketch Acting
With Jessica McGuire
An exciting class culminating in two live shows!
Come on and get silly! Explore a side of yourself most performers rarely get to develop, and find new, bankable skills.
You’ll be able to do anything those commercial casting directors ask of you. Stretch your abilities and have some fun! You know the phrase, "you are enough"? Now, you can chew that expression up and spit it out with the rest of the scenery! Through improvisational techniques and character development exercises, you'll create larger-than-life characters that are perfect for sketch comedy.
In this workshop, you'll develop "stock" characters you can plug into any situation. Expanding on the exercises and techniques learned in Intro to Sketch, you will get to explore the origins of comedy with an emphasis on scene work.
Build your confidence and willingness to take big risks, expand your improv & audition skills, think on your feet to create instant characters and polish your comedic timing.
This workshop will create a live Sketch Comedy showcase, publicized and performed for two nights at The Village Theatre. Members of the advanced class are the first to be utilized if there is a need for additional mainstage cast.
Sketch Acting is required. Limited to 10 actors. Payment confirms your space.

Jessica was born in a pineapple field in Hawaii, or at least that’s what her parents told her until the age of five. It was then that she decided to continue the lying and so, at the age of 18, she set out to conquer a BA in Theatre Arts at LaGrange College.
You may have seen Jessica around town performing with Improv Road Show, as a member of The Basement Theatre or with her long form improv group called Carriage House at The Brink Improv.
Jessica has taught far and wide, both children and adults, from South Korea to the Papermill Theatre in Lincoln, NH, to Sketchworks Industrial Strength Comedy here in Atlanta. She has also written and performed original scripts with Sketchworks and the Papermill Theatre.
As the wife of a pilot, Jessica enjoys traveling to far off, exotic places. When she’s not performing, teaching or jet setting, she enjoys fine champagne, walking dogs and dancing to hip Zumba beats.
